Robert E. Harvey

Robert E. Harvey is senior vice president and a director of the Ashforth Company, a family-owned real estate and investment company founded in New York City in 1896. He serves as an advisor on fund-raising issues to the Center for the History and Ethics of Public Health, Columbia University. Mr. Harvey began his investment career in 1976 at Scudder, Stevens & Clark.  In 1991 he joined Bessemer Trust Co. as senior vice president and co-director of equities. In 1994 Harvey negotiated the Ashforth Company’s purchase of Barrett Associates, Inc., investment advisors, where he was elected president and chief operating officer. In 2000 Harvey negotiated the sale of Barrett to Legg Mason Inc. Mr. Harvey holds a BA from Bowdoin College, an MBA from the University of Virginia, the CFA designation and an MPH from Columbia University.  He is treasurer of the Deering Foundation and a member of the investment committee of Judson Memorial Church. He is a resident of New York City and a great-great grandson of Elizabeth Milbank Anderson, endower of the Fund.
