The Milbank State Leadership Network hosted a virtual briefing on September 11 (12:30–2:00 PM ET) on how states are working to sustain community health worker (CHW) programs in the context of Medicaid and public health funding reductions. The briefing built on a recent Milbank blog post on State Strategies for Engaging Community Health Workers Amid Federal Policy Shifts.
Panelists from Heartland Forward, Common Health Coalition, and IMPaCT Care shared lessons from recent efforts to strengthen CHW infrastructure. The discussion highlighted state legislation, public health and health care partnership models, and Medicaid strategies for sustainable reimbursement.
