Mark T. Benton

Mark T. Benton is a senior program officer with the Fund. Prior to joining the Fund in 2007, Mr. Benton worked for eighteen years at the state and local level of North Carolina’s health and human services organization. Key leadership positions included director of the state’s Medicaid and SCHIP programs; assistant director and chief of health care planning for the state’s health facility licensure/regulatory agency; senior health policy analyst; and program manager responsible for evaluating Work First, North Carolina’s welfare reform initiative. Mr. Benton graduated from Mount Olive College as a Bryan Scholar with bachelor's degrees in psychology and English and did graduate coursework at East Carolina University.
