Despite being the only health sector shown to improve population health and health equity, primary care in the United States is in crisis as access to care declines. The Fund advances policy action to strengthen primary care by developing resources, supporting state-to-state learning, and collaborating with primary care funders and advocates.
This report, developed by Milbank and the National Academy for State Health Policy, provides leaders with a range of policy options states can use to strengthen primary care across geopolitically diverse contexts. Strategies in this menu are organized in five critical and complementary priority areas, with additional resources for each area in an appendix.
