Tangela Womack, MBA, serves as the Assistant Secretary for Louisiana’s Office of Women’s Health and Community Health, where she leads efforts to improve health outcomes for women and families across the state. Her path into health care and public service is shaped by a lifelong passion for helping others and a deep understanding of how systems can either support or hinder people in their most vulnerable moments. With a background that spans education, clinical care, and Medicaid policy, Tangela brings a people-centered perspective to public health.
She previously served as Deputy Director in Louisiana Medicaid and now champions health equity through initiatives like the Transforming Maternal Health model and statewide educational campaigns focused on mental health and wellness. Tangela holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration, and she remains grounded in her belief that all communities deserve access to compassionate, informed care and the tools to make empowered decisions.
