State Representative, Minnesota
Anquam Mahamoud serves as the newly elected State Representative for Minnesota’s District 62B, bringing over 12 years of experience in health care policy and administration. She began her career as one of Minnesota’s first state caseworkers during the Affordable Care Act rollout, later advancing to the role of State Planning Director for Individual Market Policy, Eligibility, and Enrollment at MNsure. In this capacity, she led strategic planning, budgeting, and system development to broaden health coverage access across Minnesota.
In the legislature, Anquam serves on the Health Finance & Policy Committee, the Energy Finance & Policy Committee, and the Judiciary Finance & Civil Law Committee. Her professional healthcare background strongly informs her legislative work in shaping policies related to equity in health access and environmental health. In her first year, she authored and successfully passed legislation aimed at increasing health care access in rural and underserved Minnesota communities. Additionally, she championed a contract-for-deed bill that protects consumers from predatory housing practices.
