David Anderson

David Anderson has been a research associate at the Duke Margolis Center for Health Policy since 2017. He earned his bachelors in history and policy and a master degree in public policy and management at Carnegie Mellon University.  After graduating in 2003, he worked as a program evaluator for most of a decade and then made his first career transition to health insurance implementation at UPMC Health Plan, where he also started to write policy analysis of the Affordable Care Act under a pen name at Balloon-Juice.com.  His current research interests include analyzing the impact of transaction costs and information on plan choice in the Affordable Care Act marketplaces, as well as improving choice architecture to improve choice quality in these markets.
