Behavioral Health and Public Health Policy Advisor, King County Executive Office
Liz Arjun, MPH, MSW is the Behavioral Health and Public Health Policy for King County Executive Girmay Zahilay. Liz is a senior health policy and systems leader and longtime health advocate with more than 20 years of experience advancing equitable health coverage and services for children, low-income individuals, and communities facing complex medical, behavioral, and social needs. She joined the Executive’s policy team from Health Management Associates, where she consulted with states and federal agencies, foundations and community-based organizations on large-scale health system transformation, legislative and regulatory policy, and multi-stakeholder initiatives focused on access, affordability, behavioral health integration, and whole-person care. Across roles in advocacy and research organizations, local and federal government, and consulting, Liz has worked closely with vulnerable populations and the organizations that serve them, translating lived experience and community priorities into actionable policy and program design. She is recognized for her ability to lead inclusive public processes, build consensus across diverse stakeholders, and deliver clear, practical recommendations to policymakers and community members. She began her career at the Children’s Alliance where she managed a statewide coalition of 40+ organizations on children’s health that resulted in the passage of what is now Apple Health for Kids, providing health coverage to all children in Washington. Outside of work, she spends time attending her two teenage sons’ sporting events, trying not to embarrass them too much with her lack of sports knowledge.
