Megan Srinivas

Megan Srinivas, MD, is an infectious disease physician, health policy researcher, and legislator representing Iowa’s 30th House District. Her research focuses on delivering care to rural and low-resource settings in the US and globally. She led a JAMA-published study on family planning clinic closures that has informed state and national policy debates. Megan also recently co-led a World Health Organization project advancing access to reproductive health care in resource-limited settings. She is the host of the American Medical Association (AMA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention health equity podcast, Stories of Care, and serves as the infectious disease expert for Iowa Primary Care Association’s Project ECHO. 

Megan was the first student member on the Iowa State Board of Education, appointed by then-Governor Vilsack. She is a national delegate to the American Medical Association, a Senior Atlantic Fellow for Health Equity, and serves on the Iowa Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Commission. She received her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Harvard University and her medical degree from the University of Iowa, completing internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and an infectious disease fellowship at the University of North Carolina.
