Chief Deputy Director, Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services
Jeff Lunardi, MBA, has been in several roles within Virginia state government over the last 11 years. Jeff currently serves as Chief Deputy Director for Virginia’s Medicaid program, supporting the director on all aspects of program operations and initiatives. He is responsible for the agency’s legislative affairs; works closely with the deputy director for information technology and the agency’s chief analytics officer to oversee the IT, project management, data analytics, and innovation teams; and provides executive leadership for a variety of cross-agency projects and initiatives. Jeff was previously Executive Director of Virginia’s Joint Commission on Health Care, a standing legislative commission focused on state health care policy. Prior to that position, Jeff held several positions in oversight and program evaluation with Virginia’s Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission and the US Department of Education, and served as a Presidential Management Fellow. Jeff received a bachelor’s degree in public policy and a MBA from the College of William and Mary.
