Assistant Health Director, Preventive Health, Mecklenburg County Health Department
Chaquetta Johnson, DNP, MPH, WHNP-BC, is Assistant Health Director for Preventive Health at Mecklenburg County Health Department in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mecklenburg County is one of the fastest growing counties in the nation in terms of population and diversity. Her division includes school health, HIV/STI/Hepatitis programming, and environmental health services. She is a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner with more than 20 years of combined experience in nursing, public health and health care administration.
Prior to joining Mecklenburg County, Chaquetta worked with the Louisiana Department of Health in several roles on the state and regional levels, including Deputy Director of the Louisiana HIV/STI/Hepatitis Program, Director of the Louisiana Immunization Program, and Interim Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Louisiana Office of Public Health. She holds master’s degrees in public health and nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Vanderbilt University.
