Kourtney Bettinger, MD, MPH, is Kansas Medicaid Medical Director and an associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She also serves as the Kansas Newborn Screening Program Medical Director and Associate Director of Global Health at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Kourtney has worked as a general pediatrician for nine years, caring for a large number of Spanish-speaking families, many of whom have Medicaid coverage.
She has developed a debriefing training curriculum for midwives in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as part of an NIH-funded randomized controlled trial and partners with a Nigerian pediatrician on an American Academy of Pediatrics International Community Access to Child Health Grant on improving newborn resuscitation skills for rural health workers. She recently welcomed her fourth child and loves to be outside with her family, running, or reading a good book.
