Back to The States of Health
The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the critical role that primary care plays in guarding the health and well-being of all people. As a result, an increasing number of state legislatures and administrations have taken action to enhance financial support for these essential services. More states are using legislative and regulatory authority to measure or report on primary care spending and, in some cases, to set targets for increasing investment in primary care.
On June 22, 2022, the Milbank Memorial Fund, the Primary Care Collaborative, and the American Academy of Family Physicians hosted a webinar, which reviewed state activity and dove into the experiences of the general assemblies in Maryland and Maine with the teams that made it happen in their home states.
