Chief, Quality and Health Equity Evaluation and Monitoring Branch, California Department of Health Care Services
Sural Shah, MD, MPH, is Chief of the Quality and Health Equity Monitoring Branch at the California Department of Health Services. She is a practicing general internist and pediatrician in Los Angeles. She received her medical degree at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and completed a combined internal medicine-pediatrics residency program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania/Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She earned her master’s in public health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
In addition to her state and clinical roles, Sural is Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Immigrant Child and Family Health. She also co-leads the Olive View-UCLA Human Rights Clinic and serves as co-faculty advisor for the Los Angeles Human Rights Initiative.
