State Senator, New Mexico
Natalie Figueroa was elected to the New Mexico Senate for Senate District 18 in 2024. She now serves on the Senate Tax, Business and Transportation Committee, as well as the Senate Education Committee.
Prior to being elected to the Senate, Natalie served as a State Representative for New Mexico House District 30 from 2018 to 2024. Natalie served on the House Education Committee and was Vice-Chair of the House Commerce and Economic Development Committee. She subsequently served as Vice-Chair of the Government, Elections & Indian Affairs Committee, and as a member of the Labor, Veteran’s & Military Affairs Committee, and finally as a member of Appropriations & Finance Committee.
Natalie received a BA in Spanish, with distinction, from Stanford University, and an MEd from UCLA. She has taught high school Spanish for 35 years in Los Angeles Unified School District, Glastonbury High School in Connecticut, and Albuquerque Public Schools. She has worked with teachers in training from the University of Connecticut and the University of New Mexico. She has served on the Board of the American Council of Teachers of Foreign Language. She is a past president of New Mexico Organization of Language Educators, and past president of Southwest Conference of Language Teachers. She has been married to Rafael Figueroa, a college adviser, for 36 years.
