Secretary, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
Devdutta Sangvai, MD, is the Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. A family medicine physician and professor at Duke University, Dev has dedicated his career to improving access to care, developing the health care workforce, and driving system efficiency.
Prior to leading NCDHHS, Devdutta served as President of Duke Regional Hospital and Vice President for Population Health Management at the Duke University Health System.
He earned his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University, his MD from the Medical College of Ohio (where he also completed his family medicine and chief residencies), his MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, and his JD from North Carolina Central University.
