Multi-State Collaborative Prepares for CPC+

On August 1, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the selection of 14 regions around the country that will be the sites of its largest multi-payer primary care and payment transformation program to date. In the 14 geographic areas, Comprehensive Primary Care Plus (CPC+) rewards the pursuit and achievement of increased quality and contained cost through innovative and collaborative activity among 57 national, local, public and private payers and multiple stakeholders involving up to 5,000 primary care practices, and 25 million patients. The program will be in effect from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2022, by far the longest-planned innovation of its kind.

Four new regions join 10 existing members of the Milbank Memorial Fund’s Multi-State Collaborative (MC) as CPC+ regions.

“This is a huge opportunity for our collaborative to make sustainable positive impacts upon the value of health care, emphasizing both cost and quality, said Lisa Dulsky Watkins, MD, MC director. “We are very excited to help support our members and our colleagues at CMS as the program unfolds.”

Primary care practices in the selected regions have until September 15, 2016 to apply to participate.
