Michelle Munroe

Michelle Munroe, RN, DNP, CNM, FACNM, is chief executive officer of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) and a retired US Army Colonel with 28 years of active-duty service. A nationally recognized nurse-midwife and health care executive, she has held leadership positions across clinical, academic, and military health care settings, including hospital CEO, chief nursing officer, and commandant/assistant dean at the Uniformed Services University.

Michelle earned her doctorate from Frontier Nursing University and holds a master’s degree in strategic studies. She has been an ACNM member since 2003 and was an early founder of the Uniformed Services Affiliate. Her military service included deployment to Iraq, advancing women’s health policy, leading innovative midwifery programs, and implementing Centering Pregnancy across military hospitals.
