James M. Shultz

James M. Shultz, MS, PhD is a population health scientist and the director of the Center for Disaster and Extreme Event Preparedness (DEEP Center), University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He teaches public health courses and advises MD/MPH students in the Department of Public Health Sciences. He publishes and conducts research on themes of population health science, disaster behavioral health, climate change impacts on public health, complex disaster risks and resilience, global mental health, and structural violence. Shultz holds an MS in health behavior research and a PhD in behavioral epidemiology from the University of Minnesota Division of Epidemiology and Community Health.
