Senior Policy Advisor and Legislative Liaison, Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources

          

Hope Richardson is a Senior Policy Advisor to the Secretary of Health and Human Resources under the administration of Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger. She manages maternal-child health initiatives for the secretariat and serves as legislative and regulatory lead. Hope previously worked at the Department of Medical Assistance Services, Virginia’s state Medicaid agency, in policy advisory and project management roles, including most recently as a Senior Advisor to the Chief Deputy Director. She has had the opportunity to lead planning and implementation of Medicaid, CHIP, and human services projects, including Virginia’s 12-months postpartum 1115 demonstration, expansion of justice-involved youth reentry services, managed care coordination for youth in psychiatric residential treatment facilities, and the launch of CHIP Health Services Initiatives. Hope holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the Goldman School of Public Policy, University of California-Berkeley, and a BA from Wellesley College.
