Chief Medical Officer, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
Toni Eyssallenne, MD, is the Chief Medical Officer at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. In this role, she leads strategy and implementation of the agency’s work of bridging public health and health care. Her oversight includes provider engagement and communication strategies, community health worker strategy and expansion, racism in clinical algorithms, and operationalizing the clinical impact of traditional public health programming. She continues to build novel approaches to addressing underserved and emerging clinical conditions which continue to expose deep inequitable health outcomes, particularly asthma, sickle cell disease, long COVID, and maternal health.
