Director, Hawaii Department of Human Services
Ryan Yamane, MBA, MSW, has been Director of the Hawaii Department of Human Services since 2024, where he works to support the well-being of individuals, families, and communities across Hawaii. Prior to this appointment, he served as Deputy Director of the Department of Human Resources Development. From 2004 to 2023, he was an elected official in the Hawaii State House of Representatives, where he chaired the Health, Human Services, and Homelessness Committee and led the House Committee on Health from 2009 to 2012.
Ryan has dedicated himself to public service as a social worker, instructor, and disaster volunteer for the State of Hawaii. His nearly two decades in the legislature gave him deep insight into health and human services policy, as well as the needs of vulnerable populations.
