The project team was led by North Carolina's Research Triangle Institute and included among its subcontractors the Social Gerontological Research Center of the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center for Aged (Boston), the Center for Gerontology and Health Care Research at Brown University (Providence), and the Institute of Gerontology at University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. The key investigators were Catherine Hawes, Brant E. Fries, Vincent Mor, John N. Morris, and Charles D. Phillips. Katharine Murphy was the lead nurse clinician, and Sidney Katz, M.D., headed the clinical panel.
