⁵ The 4S trial average baseline total cholesterol and LDL-C (260 mg/dl and 188 mg/dl, respectively) were higher than might be expected in the KP population. Therefore, we also relied on the results of the LIPID trial, where baseline cholesterol values appear to be more representative (total cholesterol 218 mg/dl, LDL-C 150 mg/dl), although this study was not restricted to diabetes patients.
