The year 2005 marked the Milbank Memorial Fund's 100th anniversary. To commemorate this event, the Fund issued three publications: an article on the significance of the Fund for policy, a Centennial Report, and a special edition of The Milbank Quarterly. In his article, Daniel M. Foxpresident of the Fund and publisher of The Milbank Quarterlyexplores the significance of the Milbank Memorial Fund for policy since its inception in 1905. His thesis is that the Fund has been most effective when it has been a broker of practical knowledge to decision makers in health. The Centennial Report details the work of the Fund during its first century, providing a chronological history of its leaders, programs, and financial resources. The special issue of The Milbank Quarterly includes an introduction and contains selected articles from the journal's past eighty-three volumes that provide insight into the role of both the Fund and its journal in addressing major policy questions for health services and population health. |
